About friends of Northside Learning Center
Friends of Northside Learning Center supports the students, faculty, and administration of Northside Learning Center, a Chicago Public High School that educates students with significant intellectual disabilities and impaired adaptive functioning. Through fundraising and volunteering events, we support the curriculum and enhance the learning experience of our community by allocating funds towards up-to-date technology, art and music therapy, a theater program, a culinary arts program, a greenhouse urban agriculture program, and car wash. We also provide assistance for extracurricular activities like Special Olympics, field trips, and a variety of teacher and student requested projects and clubs.
Special Olympics Illinois- Region D
Special Olympics Illinois- Region D is the largest region in the state of Illinois and larger than 26 other state Chapters in the U.S. offering training and competition in 22 sports in Chicago. Athletes learn fundamentals, rules, and strategies from their coaches during a training period prior to competition. Competitions are held at the area, regional and state levels.
